HEADACHES

IgG Food allergy can cause inflammations not just in the throat or stomach, but the brain as well. Such inflammations often cause headaches and migraine. From approximately 200 types of inflammation of the head, the most common and frequent ones are migraine and tension-related headache. These types are formed on the basis of a difference in type of pain such as pressing, hammering, throbbing etc or on the basis of the difference in duration and frequency. Tension headaches and Migrainesare basically classified under the branch of primary headaches as they can be treated directly.

The root cause of such primary headaches is still not known but a huge number of people with migraine suspect that there might be some food items that instantly trigger the migraine attacks. And as per research, though minimal, it is stated that delayed IgG food allergies can be one such trigger. This makes the whole concept of ImuPro more resourceful. ImuPro performs IgG food allergy test on such patients and then provides them with personalised dietary guidelines.

People affected by migraine regularly suffer from intense long-lasting headaches. It causes a pulsating or throbbing pain usually on either side of the head. They can meddle with rest, work and other daily ordinary exercises and may happen as regularly as a few times each week or as seldom as once or twice a year. The problem of Migraine usually starts at adolescence and generally influences those who are somewhere around 35 and 45 years.

Symptoms:

  • Fatigue or sluggishness
  • Sensitive to sound and bright lights
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Pressing, pulsating or throbbing pains in one side of head

Generally there are two forms of a migraine - which are commonly known as with aura and without aura. The type of migraine 'with aura', usually shows warning signs before the commencement of pains which is called an aura and these include difficulty in speaking, tingling sensation in limbs, neck and shoulders, bodily weakness, co-ordination and balance issues, difficulty in concentrating, seeing blind spots and flashing lights. This stage in the 'with aura' type usually lasts for around 15 minutes to 60 minutes. In every one out of 5 people who suffer from migraine, experience aura symptoms.

HOW TO DIAGNOSE MIGRAINE?

There is no test specifically made to diagnose migraine. The doctors usually examine a patient's medical history and perform an ordinary neurological and clinical test in order to diagnose the symptoms of migraine. Sometimes, extra tests are performed in order to look out for other conditions or diseases that might be the real reason behind the headaches. The patient should let the doctor know the details about his/her migraine beforehand, such as the kind of pain, possible triggers, medications which trigger more pain, how intense and often the headaches occur etc.

THE CAUSES OF MIGRAINE

The cause of Migraine has long been seen as a genetic component because it has been running in families for a really long time now. A lot of researchers are of the view that people with migraines are usually more sensitive and possess a hyper excitable brain, making them more vulnerable to the stimuli surrounding them, which otherwise would have no effect on the people who are not prone to migraines. Some triggers that provoke migraine attacks are:

  • Certain food items that cause IgG food allergy
  • Alcohol consumption
  • A change in sleep-wake regularity
  • Excessive stress and burden
  • Hormonal fluctuations

Migraine

Migraines are long lasting intense headaches whose causes are unclear. One of the suspected causes is linked to IgG food allergy. Other possible triggers include hormonal fluctuations, stress, alcohol, changed sleep-wake rhythm.

Scientific approach to migraine and IgG

A type III food allergy causes inflammatory processes responsible for migraine attacks. In 2010, the first double-blind randomized cross-over trial was published ("Diet restriction in migraine, based on IgG against foods: a clinical double-blind, randomized, cross-over trial" Alpay K et al. Cephalalgia 2010; 30 (7): 829-837).ImuPro could help in marking potential migraine triggering foods. The study participants who were put on an elimination diet free of IgG positive food reported around 30% fewer migraine attacks.

So the studies have proved that eliminating IgG antibody triggering foods leads to a marked reduction in both migraine and IBS symptoms.
